Are You Ready to Implement the Omnibus Act Rules?

Representatives from HealthInfoNet and Systems Engineering recently spoke at the Maine Nurse Practitioners Association Spring Conference to discuss HIPAA and recent changes enacted in the Omnibus Rule. HealthInfoNet will also be holding an informational webinar on the topic May 9.

While the HIPAA Omnibus Rule took effect on March 26th, the date on every provider’s mind is September 23 when the enforcement mechanisms kick in. Changes to the rules include strengthening limitations of use, disclosure and sale of PHI, treating business associates (like HealthInfoNet) more like covered entities, expanding patient rights to access and manage their information, new breach notifications requirements, and increased penalties for rule violations. And that’s just a quick summary.

Also, we hope you can attend HealthInfoNet’s webinar on May 9 at 12pm EST, “HIPAA Rules Have Changed: Are you Ready?” with special guest Kathleen Healy of Verrill Dana.
