Maine is a rural state and home to the oldest population in the nation. This creates ever-increasing demand for care services from an already strained rural health care system. Therefore it’s no surprise that Maine providers have been quick to adopt technology like electronic records, health information exchange (HIE), e-prescribing, and telehealth services. Supported by a strong information technology infrastructure, telehealth saves time and resources for both patients and providers.
