Maine Department of Corrections Now Sending ADT & Vitals Information

The State of Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) is now connected as a data-sharing participant of the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE). MDOC is responsible for the direction and general supervision, guidance, and planning of both adult and juvenile correctional facilities and programs within the state.

Our new implementation with MDOC includes each of its adult facilities (Bolduc Correctional Facility, Maine Correctional Center, Maine State Prison, Mountain View Correctional Facility, and Southern Maine Women’s Reentry Center) as well as its juvenile facility (Long Creek Youth Development Center). Wellpath (formerly CorrectCare Solutions), which provides medical services to MDOC locations, is the agent responsible for sending Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) and Vitals information to the statewide HIE on behalf of all MDOC residents.

As a result of this connection, HealthInfoNet and the statewide HIE hope to serve in a role of helping support greater quality of health services offered and provisioned by Wellpath and other MDOC clinical teams, as well as improving the coordination of care and benefits for persons transitioning in-and-out of incarceration throughout the state.
