HARP v.3.0 Adapts to More Readily Support Our Users

Author: Liz Klausner, PMP, Analytics Project Manager

In the year since the initial release of our Health Analytics Reporting Platform (HARP), use of the service has grown and our team has gathered great feedback from our users. These learnings led us to spend much of the spring hard at work on a major version release of the service that resulted in several modifications to backend and frontend systems that are better aligned with our users’ workflows.

Beginning on July 16, the service underwent a three-phase implementation release concluding on August 13, which included the following enhancements:

  • Upgrades to our reporting server infrastructure and software to ensure the service is up-to-date with security and performance standards
  • Tuning of backend database views and frontend visualizations for improved performance
  • Implementation of frontend accessibility features aligned with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) criteria to support requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Modifications to the frontend reporting dashboards’ general design and available features/functionality, streamlined according to known use cases and workflows
  • Creation of a new reporting suite, known as HARP Utilities, that highlights the service’s administrative configurations (e.g., user permissions, patient attribution)

As part of our improvements to the service’s frontend design, we are most proud to share with our users a new “Insights” reporting dashboard. Conceived by our Clinical Education Manager, Nicole Yeo-Fisher, the Insights reporting dashboard offers a jumping-off point for users to target patients who are currently hospitalized or at elevated risk for readmission, may benefit from palliative care services or chronic condition management, or are not in compliance with available quality measures, among other metrics that assess the health of their populations and recommend key areas for potential improvement or further investigation. These metrics, created after years of learning from our users, hope to drive improvements in and greater understanding of individuals’ health-related risks, conditions, and outcomes.
