HealthInfoNet awarded Robert Wood Johnson DASH grant to “CIC-START” Efforts to Improve Health through Data Sharing
Integrating Social and Clinical Data to provide Complete, Coordinated Patient Care.
Portland, ME – January 24, 2018. HealthInfoNet (HIN) was awarded a planning grant from Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH), an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This 6-month pilot initiative called CIC-START (Community Impact Contracts – Strategic, Timely, Actionable, Replicable, Targeted) aims to help local collaborations catalyze their efforts to share and use multi-sector data to improve community health.
HealthInfoNet’s initiative – Maine’s Homeless Health Information Planning Collaborative – will work to build shared knowledge and recommendations for data integration between the homeless service providers and the health care community.
“HealthInfoNet recognizes this urgent opportunity to build on the initial DASH grant’s success and has a proven record of accomplishment as a trusted statewide entity that can convene stakeholders to drive actionable, sustainable multi-sector data sharing,” said Katie Sendze, Client Services Director at HealthInfoNet. “Through this work, we hope to identify the desired data that primary care and other users need access to meet the goals of improving the health of the homeless population they serve.”
By giving local collaborations the momentum they need to take their data sharing efforts to the next level, DASH CIC-START aims to accelerate progress towards developing precise, data-driven public health initiatives that are more effective at reducing health disparities.
“Everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy life, but to achieve this vision we need to shift our approach by moving beyond the health care sector and analyzing data on social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health,” says DASH Co-Director Clare Tanner at the Michigan Public Health Institute. “We hope that DASH CIC-START helps local collaborations stake significant steps toward aligning multi-sector partners around data-driven approaches that promote health equity.”
